After my Dr appointment today, Kay and I decided to hit McDees and grab a burger! It was a lot of fun just hanging out with Kay! With her work schedule and my crazy life, we just don't get a chance to do that much these days! She got a new game for her DS earlier in the week, and we had fun hanging out and playing with it! I can't remember the name of the game, but it is a Nintendo game that is like a cross between Animal Crossing and SIMS! It is a Japanese name, so I can't even begin to tell you what it is! (:
Now the doctor appointment news... I woke up in the night last night with my eyelashes stuck together and very sore eyes! I didn't think to actually look at them until this morning! I slept horrible and kept waking up to wipe my eyes! Well... I have Pink Eye/conjunctivitis! I have never had it before, and Andy didn't think that adults could even get it! I texted a photo of my eyes to my mom (she is a nurse for anyone who doesn't know) and she told me to call my doctor! Well the doctor was also calling me because of the results from recent blood draw! I am still anemic, but it has gotten worse! I am seven tenths of a point from needing a blood transusion! What I really need at this point is an iron infusion! I should back up a minute and say that I have been anemic for some time, and I knew that! It just wasn't this bad before! But... the co-pay for the iron infusion is EXPENSIVE and I don't have it! The staff is trying to find a way that I can get the infusion without having to pay all at once! The doctor wants me to take a different/stronger iron supplement to maintain the benefit of the infusion! I went to get them and they are $100 per bottle! They are a supplement and not a medication, so my Medicare won't cover any of it ! That means the supplement is not an option for me! I would need a new bottle every month!
Dr Mark thinks that I am so deficient because I have Crohn's Disease which is probably not allowing the iron to be absorbed in my intestine! So, we are looking for a solution! I am just SO tired of everything being such a hassle! The thing is, I am feeling really well in comparison to years past ! If I weren't this anemic, I could feel even better yet ! That chance gets my hopes up and then our crappy health care system brings them right back down!
I forgot to say that Pink Eye is VERY contagious for 24 hours before symptoms appear and while the eyes are draining! So, I have exposed my entire family and my handsome date without even knowing it! I babysat for Gary today until it was time to go to the doctor! Andy had a service call, so I had to babysit! I had the symptoms by then, so I was very careful not to touch my eyes or get too close to Gary! I just HOPE that no one else gets it !
